5 Myths and Facts in the History of Quilting

Do you know any facts in the history of quilting? I only recently found myself on a deep dive across wikipedia exploring the history of this craft. While I’m not a total history buff, I do think that it is interesting to imagine what people were like in the past. In some ways things must have been totally different, and in other ways, just the same.

People have been handcrafting items for millennia. In past civilizations, quilting and craftwork could have been less for hobby and more for necessity. But regardless, I still feel connected to the past when I think about ordinary people (like me) using their ordinary hands (like mine) to make the blankets, pillows, clothing, curtains and rugs for their homes and their families (just like we do today!)

Here is an infographic that I made that illustrates 5 interesting myths and facts in the distant and recent history of the art of quilt making. I hope you enjoy it!
